Default Engine break in

With 119k on my 72 base motor vert I have decided to swap in a '74 L-82 engine that I had built about 14-15 yrs ago. The engine has been in a shed/garage with plugs installed and intake opening taped shut. It has never been fired and I would like to get some opinions as to what I should do to prepare for initial start-up.
Thanks

Well, I've always been told that dirt is the quickest way to destroy a new engine so, after over a decade of sitting, I would disassemble it down to the point where I could ensure that no dirt, moisture, or corrosion could've set in. I know it seems like a pain on what is a "new" engine, in a way, but it could save many woes in the future.

As far as the actual break in, I cant remember how it goes...its been a while. I'll let someone else pick up the ball on that one.

Good luck!

I would be very careful. You might be better off breaking down the engine and inspecting everything. I had a friend who had a new engine sit for about 12 years. He spun the oil pump and rotated the engine. Then he started it up and it ate the bearings in about 30 minutes. Not sure why.
