To you guys with no insurance all winter. What happens when your car or garage catches on fire. Does your house or shop insurance buy you a new Vette? (I don't know the answer, just asking)
They could get a little pizzed if they knew your Vette was uninsured when it burned down the garage or wherever it is located.
I drop mine to just comprehensive... in case of fire or theft. $9 for six months.
Winter is when it's below zero for extended periods and women and kids can't see over the snow banks along side the roads.
There is no point in having the vette available for driving from November to march. And since I only have a two car garage, the vette goes offsite and the daily comes inside.
A nice day in a Minnesota winter it gets into the 20's

Never really gets cool enough in Columbia South Carolina to store the Vette away. They dont use salt on the roads, heck if it does snow they just wait until lunch time and it is all gone anyway..
I enjoy driving the car all year. Of course I dont go to any shows from Dec till March timeframe but other then that the pool is open all year.
The winter months are a good time for long term mods since I dont have to rush to get the mod done to make a show date.

I have not been able to fine a snow plow mount that will fit the Vette. So I keep both the 75 vert. and the 78 t-top in the garage. No heat in the 78, and I don't like using the ice scraper on vert rear window.
The coldness around here (coupled with the fact that this place turns into an ice rink in the winter) is the main factors. I have enough spider web crakc as it is. I don't need some idiot sliding into me in the parking lot....
It gets cold up here. When it's really cold, you need salt to melt the snow. Salt + snow = metal eating salt/water solution....very bad for nice old Corvettes. They are not good in the snow anyway. I could line up on one in my 6 cyllinder Ranger and smoke him in 4 inches of snow. Why would you ever WANT to drive one in the winter? If you do, you are slowly ruining that car.
