Default Help With Intake Choice

I own a '76 vette with all the goodies,al. heads , hedders etc. and am currently running the '70 LT1 al. intake with a holley 750 dp.My combo works very well with aprox. 400 flywheel HP but i really miss the sound and snap i had with my spreadbore carb.I am giving thought to a switch back to a spreadbore carb and would like your imput as to the best choice for an aftermarket intake.Because of height issues i can't use a adapter on my existing setup.I have a drop base air cleaner so i can handle most of the intakes out there, was looking at the edelbrock performer rpm Q- jet, any thoughts on that or any others?
thanx for any help

Yes, the RPM would be a very good way to go w/ a spreadbore. I suppose you already have a spreadbore carb? You could try a smaller Holley.

Many years ago I ran a 750 mechanical double pumper on a 400+ hp 350. I worked in a garage and had a choice of several different size carbs. For all out top end the 750 felt better but for daily driving and a more crisp throttle response the 650 seemed better.

Default Performer air-gap?

Performer air-gap takes both sqaure and speadbore carbs. No choke or EGR mounts though. I read a comparison against both a Performer and a RPM air-gap this year - corvette fever i think. Got beat by the RPM a/g but better power than the performer. Bolted one on mine but no results yet and haven't even have tried hood on yet.
Spent another $100 for the polished perf a/g and it looks just great sitting above my polished Edelbrock wtr pmp. Really a good match. Sorry no px yet but maybe this weekend. Maybe some polished alum vlv covers would really shine things up (low on the to do list).
Just my best guesstiment, i don't think you'll lose much pwr to a stock LT1 manifold.
Good luck and please post ur results. cardo0

Go for the Performer intake with Permastar coating. See pics at my webpage.
