Hooker Sidepipes..... Baffles????
I've seen a few members are happy with their JCL spiral baffles for their Hooker sidepipes And I'd like to try them, but I can't find them!!! could someone PLEASE supply me with a link to a working web page???

Why don't you run the pipes open.. You are in Florida.. so nobody should give you a hard time
I already drove over 40k miles with open sidepipes in the state of Florida (with 2 Vettes.. 20k with my '69 Vert and 20k with my '68 Vert) and didn't get any tickets for the noise!

During the week I start my car at 7AM and during the weekends I get home well after midnight.... I'm just trying to be a good neighbor.
Has anyone tried these from Jeg's???

No noise reduction at all????
I don't want to give up a single HP unless I can cut the noise down!! It's WAY to much fun to drive the way it is!!!
I have not seen the Hooker inserts.... is there any way to modify them to make them less restrictive????

With the four inch collectors on the Hookers there isn't enough exhaust velocity for the Car Chemistry inserts to work as designed. I tried them also, and when I talked to the owner/designer about the lack of noise reduction it was explained to me....

I ran a car chemistry style insert in my vette for a couple of years.... but to keep the sound down I had to restrict the flow too much which meant loss in HP.
I am currently making a JCL style baffle for the vette since I just can't justify over $500( yes that much by the time it gets to me) for a pair of mufflers. I currently have around $40 bucks into my baffles and are hoping they they are as good or better than JCL's due to their adjustablility.
There was a guy around here a couple of years ago that made his own sidetubes out of a truck stack and a 5" moroso spiral flow. They looked really cool but but diddn't work too well.
I haven't seen him around for a year or two. He had a 69 BB vert that was black but I forget his name.

I went with the JCL's for my L88 clone. I've posted about them numerous times. Unless you only make $3 per hour, I really doubt that you can justify the time and material to piece them together as well as JCL already has. I know of no cheaper way to get major hp with Hooker pipes and still have a reasonably quiet car.
The baffles come with a plug covering the small center tube. I don't even remember the diameter anymore, probably in the range of either 1.25" to 1.5". Removing these caps added about 4 db's according to my digital sound meter both at idle and 2500rpm free revs.
If you are concerned about giving up hp, you needn't be.
Open exhaust: 483rwhp
JCL stock Baffles: 438rwhp
JCL w/o caps: 477rwhp
mufflers affect a/f a bit. The a/f measured a bit too rich with the baffles compared to the jetting set up for open pipes. I believe that if I had lowered the jets a few numbers I would have found virtually all of the miniscule 6hp I had lost.
The baffles are a great product. They reduce the noice by a huge amount compared to open exhaust. I like the sound of the JCL's, especially without the center caps, better than Flowmaster, but the sound level is about the same as the FM 30-40 series.

Just big enough to fit inside your side pipes and hope for the best....just keep adding spirals until you are happy with the sound,
If you have spare time and like to play instead of vegging in front of the TV, go for it! If it sucks you can always buy the JCL's later.
