Default Steering problems

Hi All, I'm a newbie here and would like some help with my "new"71. When I romp on it, it pulls hard to the right and when I decel. it lurches to the left. I've had it up on stands looking for bad tie rod ends ect. But no luck. I wonder of it might be something with the rear suspension.
Has any one else ever had something like this?

HELP!

I haven't had this problem, but would check the rear trailing arm bushings and bearings. Make sure the shims are still inplace back there also. Good luck

Yup, YB has it right, I would be looking at frame rust in the rear of the car, kickup where the T-arms tie into the frame....

best of luck....

I've already changed the rear wheel bearings and changed the trailing arm bushings. I just put the shims back in their origional postions and that didn't help any. The big rubber bushing holding the third member looks like it's softened up with oil. Could that be causing it?
The frame is good. No rot to cause problems... I'm kind of baffled.

Next project is to figure out why the drivers door won't open. I think the linkage has dropped off the latch assy. Neither door handle will work.

Get a 4 wheel alignment. I have the same problem every time that I change my ride height.

Does it make scarey direction changes when you change the ride height? This is pretty radical...

did you check your idler arm??? there are lots of front end parts and cumulative wear can really build up, you know it almost sounds like "torque steering" I wonder what would loose motor mounts would do in that dept???

I would almost be afraid to drive it. Mine did this for about two days on my way to work and on the third day a 1/2 a mile from my house my whole rear suspension gave out. My mounts for the leaf spring broke on the diff cover, broke my leaf spring, broke a halfshaft, a u joint, and the piece coming out of the diff to mount the u joint to. And I was only going around a corner at about 30 miles an hour. So I would definetly check your rear suspension. Good luck. Hope you find your problem.

I've checked out everything in the front end and its good. think it's something in the back. The springs were out when I re-did the trailing arms. Everything looked good except maybe that big rubber bushing on the front of the 3rd member. I'm baffled so I figured that I jion this foirum and see if others had this problem.
Thanks

Definitely get it on an alignment rack. Could be a simple matter of the thrust angle being off. That is, the rear wheels are pointing so they're not in line with the fronts and thus the thrust is imparting some yaw because it's not in line with everything else.
