I have a 4-Speed, and everytime you get throttle friendly, sometimes when you try to accelerate fast between starting at 2800-3500 rpm, it pops out of gear.
We bought the car in May, and now it used to do it in just third, but sometimes it happens in 1st and second if we aren't careful.
It's a 454 Big Block with headers, camshaft, and some other work, previous owner said it was between 5-550 HP, but havn't had a chance to dyno it because of the problem.
I don't know what transmission is in it, but will try to find out.
We might be getting the re-engine built eventually, but would like to know if we should get a new tranny, maybe even a 5-6 speed to make it a litlle more fun?
What year car are you talking. Chances are it is a Muncie. It could be as simple as a linkage adjustment or you might have worn syncros or gears. Tough to say. I put in a Tremec this past winter and I have to say the car is a whole different car now. I would highly recomend this swap. I rebuilt my Muncie a few times and put to much money into it. It now resides under my workbench gathering dust.
I just looked at your profile and you have a 68. It should be a Muncie. Either close or wide ratio box. If you are thinking about a trans swap there is a sticky at the top on the Tremec from Keisler. No price yet but it looks like the best deal going so far.
