Default a few front end alignment Qs

I thought toe should always be in, yet for 3 of the settings, toe is either 0 or out. Are there any better specs then the ones vbp gives? Also, when they specify 1/32" toe in, does that mean 1/32" difference from the center of the wheel to the edge, or from one edge of the rim to the other side, or am I totally wrong and there is some other way of measuring this?

Just my $.02 worth...

I've found that 0 or 1/32 toe in is best for the street. The other settings are very "twitchy" on a regular road, but you would never notice this on a track or autocrossing because you are always "twitching!"

Toe is measured from the wheel rim to the opposite wheel rim. Toe out is used on race cars to improve turn in in the corners.

I run zero toe at the front BUT 3/16" total at the rear and wouldn't run any less on a high horsepower car! Toe-in gives the front tires more "scrub" and stability at the cost of less turn-in response and cornering power. One of the BIG problems with the C2-3 Vettes is the inability to run lots of negative camber and lots of postive caster (Vette Brakes make a set of upper control arms to add more positive caster to the suspension. The problem is our cars were built before modern "Radial Tire Technology" was avaliable and the suspension settings are limited compared to the later C4-5 Vettes (although we can get more negative camber out of our front suspensions.) Positive caster will make the front weels want to return to "center" and will offset some of the wandering feeling brought about by minimizing the front toe-in. Toe-out is used for racing purposes only and in front wheel drive cars because they are such a mess to begin with (my humble opinions from years of autocrossing and working on racecars of the road race and circle track type.)
