Am converting to a BB from SB but my car has AC and F41 suspension from the factory. Does that mean my front springs will be stout enough for the BB or are the springs still different?
Corvette Central is the only place I've found that has the various spring rates for different combos of block size and options. Check their website or call them.
That said, with the age of your Vette, I'd change to VB's 460 front coil spring.
When shopping at my local (good) parts store, They carried
two springs for C3s ... SB and BB. Both were 460 rate - and
the only difference was total height, which was only 0.2" taller
for the BB.
The stock (base) springs are much less of a rate, so they would
sit different for BB/SB. However, with the 460 or 550 rate, there
should be little difference. It would take about 200 pounds to make a
height difference of about 0.2".
