oil pressure

Most of the time it is between 40-50 but now it is starting to peg at 80 and stay for a while.... then it comes back down to the normal range???

It could be lot's of things... like
1. When did you last change your oil?
2. What grade oil are you using?
3. Did you change your Oil Filter?
4. Are you loosing oil?

My GTO did that too.. I changed the oil & oil filter, problem went away
(tightened up the oil pan too).

I guess I should have mentioned all of that.....
I change it every 3,000 miles, I use 10W 30 synthetic and the fram super filter

Fram's have a bad rep here on the forum (no judgement from me) so you might try a diff filter like a/c delco, only cost you about $10 for the filter and qt of oil to try it.

Might just be your oil pressure sending unit. My 95 pickup was doing the same thing and had to change the sending unit.
