Roller cams
I am retro fitting a roller lifter set up from a early 90's SBC . I am modifing a 79 4 bolt main block. I am using the stock 79 cam and the roller lifters sit up about a half inch over the lifter bores when then should be a queater inch. Will the lifters be lower when I use the correct roller cam.......

The older lifter bores are at a different height (more material)compared to the newer blocks thats why they sit lower ,if you keep the lift low you could make the oems work i think say around .485 ive tried a .510 lift in a older block with oems and they sat too high,but like chris said the v-6 lifters supposedly will work but still not sure on how high of a lift you can go.I decided to just use the retro style instead and can change my cam when i want to go bigger.I think twin turbo will chime in and answer a few questions im sure.
