Water Pump Pulley Question
Has anyone ever removed the pulley mount plate off of the pilot shaft on a water pump? How is it installed? Is it an interference fit issue where I need to heat one part and chill the other. I know your probably wondering why anyone would need to do this but its too long of a story to tell. The piece I'm talking about is the flat mounting surface for the pulley to mount to that comes on the water pump. I need to move it back about an 1/8". Any info helps.

i may have one lying around the garage can't remember if i threw it out or not.... if i have it i will put it on the shop press tomorrow night when i return home... i'll let you know what 12 tons of presure does....

The pulley flange can be pressed rearward (towards the motor) by taking off the rear water pump impeller cover and supporting the bearing shaft at that point. The water pump cover plate gasket should be able to be sourced cheaply at any automotive machine shop as most major overhaul gasket sets have this gasket included in the kit, and most engines are provided with new H2O pumps installed on a re-build.
