I have a 69 T-Top and a 63 conv. I know the 63 is not posi-traction. I am trying to find out how I can determine if the 69 is posi or not. Anybody out there know an easy way to tell ?
Thanks
Jack up both sides. (both rear wheels off ground). spin one wheel by hand. If the other wheel turns the same direction you have a posi unit. If not, the opposite wheel will turn the opposite direction.

I have never seen a posi that turned the opposite direction. I've never seen a non-posi that turned the same direction so I think it works. How could it not work that way? BTW... In 69 positraction was still an potion but required with certain engine/trans options an gear ratios. I believe posi became standard in 1970.
My 69 has a big warning sticker on the underside of one of the storage compartment lids, I think the jack storage behind the pass seat. It says something about positraction equipped in big red letters.

DO you know what engine/trans combo. I have a 69 with 350/300, 4speed..and it has the red posi label on the differential. But for some reason, it doesn't feel like positraction...i'll have to do the tire turning trick i guess.
Have you checked the bottom of the differential carrier housing just in front of the rear end cover for the code?
Should be something like "AL-04 09 W". If your rear end is posi it will have an "E" below it.
