Default 72 Shoulder Seat Belts

Can someone recommend a procedure for removing the shoulder belt through the seat on a 1972 Corvette coupe without damaging the belt and boot (that keeps the belt from retracting through the seat)? Any would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Use a hair drier to warm the boot to make it more pliable. May be a lost cause due to the age, but worth a try. Slowly ease the boot off of the metal latch piece. Once the boot is removed the belt will slide out of the seat with some wiggling.
