I just sent in an application to Hagerty since people on here say they have no milage limits and I use my car around 6-7K a year. Well they called me and said they will not insure my Vette if I go over 3500 miles a year. So they may not be making it very obvious, but there is a limit. So those that think they have no limits, maybe should double check. This was for NJ, maybe it's different for each state? I guess I have to keep paying thru the nose.
You're right, I think they're not up front about that, which bothers me a bit, esp. since otherwise they seem to be pretty user friendly. When I applied, I was told (when I asked about milage limits) that they would be unlikely to approve me if I told them I drove over 3K miles a year. So their milage limit is kind of back door--they don't have a limit, per se, but they won't approve you if you tell them you're going to drive more than they want you to.

I just now changed over to them. The limit applies to 81 and newer cars according to the policy I have. Mine is a 76 and they didn't even want existing mileage.
On the information declaration it says under odometer reading: "CURRENT MILEAGE ___________ (1981 VEHICLES AND NEWER)"
do they have an age requirement? I know when I checked into insurance a couple years ago, it seemed like you had to be like 24 in order to get insurance through a special provider such as hagerty...
The application asked how many miles for "club activity", "shows", and for "leisure". Mine was 6k total and they said they would not go for more than 3500 miles. He said that the milage would depreciate the value of the car and then the coverage would be above the cars value.
Maybe this is only for later models???
They told me 5k per year right from the get-go for my '74 and they asked for the mileage. And that is limited to special events, to/from the repair shop and "occasional pleasure driving". I guess they figure if you're putting on more than 5k per year, you're driving to more than the allowed places.
It may be difficult for the average corvette owner to understand, but maybe there is a difference between having a mileage limit written into the policy (let's say they don't) and writing a policy on a car that is regularly driven more than 3500 miles per year. If you tell them you drive it 10k miles per year they won't insure you, but once they insure you there is no hard mileage limit. Whacked?
I don't know how they would know how many miles you actually drive the car... For example - in Florida - mileage on 20+ year old cars shows up as "EXEMPT" and doesn't have to be reported.. There's no way for them to know how many miles you actually drove.. They didn't ask me how many miles were on my car when I got insurance with them...

I had a policy that asked for my odometer reading every year when I renewed the policy.
they asked me the following: How much I wanted it insured for ($10,000), do I keep it in a locked garage (yes, but the garage is not built yet), how many mile I planned on driving(3000), how many shows will I be going to, they wanted pictures and milage. My price is $138.00 per year.
I just applied today - they quoted $218 annually for my '79. I think I can tell you in a few days how good they are...
Today I was told that my policy is on it's way (by mail)... they are providing insurance for $215/year with an agreed value of $10000. They have to match the limits of your regular car insurance (liability and uninsured motorists) Seems to be a great insurance provider.

Hagerty has never asked me for a mileage reading.. and Florida doesn't record mileage as soon as a car goes into mileage exempt status after 20 years...
