I Just Bought A 1975 Vette It Has A Loud Roar In Rear
And I Feel The Rear Wheel Catching When I Turn Left
Sound Like Training Arms? The Roar Is Like Off Road Tires
On A 4x4
Check your tires,U-Joints change out the gear oil. You could have a bad pinion bearing in the differential or excess backlash, hopefully not but check the easy stuff first.

Look at your tires first. I rotated mine and had a loud roar coming from the back. The tires were cupped causing the noise. I couldn't hear it when the cupped tires were on the front because you are essentially sitting in what would be the back seat of these cars.
First check to see if your tires are rubbing. Then I would check your rear u-joints on your half-shafts and drive shaft. It might not be a bad idea to change your rear end fluid too. Also check your tailing arms, pull the wheels off and check the play in them.
I Just Put New Goodyear Gt Ii Tires
I Also Checked The Differental And It Was Leaking So I Added
Some 80-90 Fluid Didnt Seem To Help
I Couldnt See Any U Joint Dammage But Dont Really Know How To Tell If U Joints Are Bad
I Had a similar Problem, It Turned Out To Be A Wheel Bearing. AFTER THINKING ABOUT IT FOR A BIT, I ONCE HAD A BAD U-JOINT THAT MADE IT FEEL LIKE IT WAS "WALKING" WHEN TURNING A SHARP CORNER.

Jim did you add the GM limited slip additive with the oil? If not add 2 bottles, don;t go by what the gear oil states such as "good for limited slip differentials" you need the GM stuff for sure.
U-joints - look for rust dust at the caps, loose fitting joints.
Does it make a noise when you let off the gas?
Rear wheel Bearings should be nice and smooth by hand and have little end play under .005" for used sets.
I Used Valvoline 80-90 For Limited Slip
The Manual Said To Use This
I Bought Some Additive From The Parts Store For Posi Trac-
Limited Slip But The Tag On The Differental Said Limited Slip Only I Was A Bit Confused
My 72 has a loud roar in back. I disconnected the left half shaft and removed it as the noise was louder on that side. I then started the car put it in gear and the roar was gone. I took the caliper off and spun the spindle by hand and it was horible. Bad bearing. Oh well, guess I will send the arm to Van Steel for a rebuild.
I agree with all the above posts, but I'm surprised nobody mentioned checking the yokes. Anything more then .050" end play on the yokes is reject. The previous owner of my car destroyed the differential case by allowing the yokes to wear so bad that one ground through the case where the oil seal is installed. They wear out inside the differential where the ends of the yokes contact the cross shaft. Also check your e-brakes.
