I looked in my corvette parts interchange manual, they do show the hubcaps/wheelcovers that are on the 68 you just bought, so they must have been either standard or an option. Looks like they were used 68-74, part number for the interchange is 3923629. BTW good luck with the new addition
I like them. To address your question, I don't know-I have been wondering the same thing. I have a pair of 8" steel wheels with the same offset as Corvette Ralleys, so I always assumed that you got steel wheels with the P02 caps.
Personally, I like them. On the 70 I restored, they came on them over the factory rallyes. If they are in good shape and you don't like them, you can get a good price for them. Those suckers are heavy and sharp on the inside.
Good luck with the project.
As I said in the earlier post, I like the PO2 wheel covers. They are not as common as rallys and they give the car a "Grand Touring" type look.
If they are not your style, then modify the heck out of the car but if it were mine, they would stay on there most of the time. Maybe have a set of custom wheels to put on when ever you need a little bit more "Bling-Bling" for your ride.

Edit: They may actualy be P01, not P02. Same wheel, different code?

For some reason Chevy listed the wheel covers as the PO1 option in '68 and PO2 in later years. I've not been able to tell the difference and am not sure that there is one. These wheel covers were also an option on big Chevys but the centers were flat on those. The Corvette centers are raised a bit. And yes, they were installed over the rallye wheels because those wheels are the only steel wheels that would fit over the front and rear disk brakes and clear the calipers.
I like them too! They are very different from what is normally seen anymore with respect to wheel covers.
Hi Guys thanks for all the help I do see the PO1 option in my little black book. I always liked these hubcaps but now I don't know. I think they look good on this car all faded out and nostalgic looking. it might be the small block hood that is on the car. I have 8" rallies under my hubcaps and I thought 68's came with 7" rallies?
If they are in good shape (and they appear to be), I would hold
onto those. They will definitely increase in value.
P01 - one year only option ? in good shape - those have to be semi-rare.
