yesterday i posted how i was on the last caliper ,( bleeding air out from a chrome master cylinder install),,,when the bleeder broke,, and i tried a e/z out with no luck.... while under there i noticed there are 2 bleeder screws per caliper,, the one i broke was the inside bleeder (in frt of the line coming in) there;s another on the oppisite side of the same caliper,,, in the future if i need to rebleed brakes,,, can i bleed that caliper from the other side?--- this way i avoid buying a new one&-painting to match the other 3--- if i can still bleed from the other side,, in my eyes ,, its still a good caliper--thanks-carl
You need to bleed from both bleeder screws. You will have air trapped in that side of the caliper if you do not bleed from that bleeder. There are a toatl of 6 bleeder screws on a C3 vette. The fronts only have 1 per caliper.
I am in the process of finishing up my rear end rebuild. I was waiting for an appropiate thread before starting a new one in regards to bleeders. I have read many, many posts on bleeding brakes but have never seen anything mentioned where the bleeders should be until this post. I purchased my calipers somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 years ago. I now question whether the bleeders were installed in the proper location. The brake line of course gose to the rear inner hole. I have 2 bleeders; one in the front inner hole and the other in the rear outer hole. Is this the correct location or should they both be in the front of the caliper? I think it would be tough/impossible to get air out of the caliper if the bleeder is at the back. I always had good brakes before disassembling things, so that setup must have worked.
The bleeders should be on the top of the caliper. Just think that air rises in fluid. On the rear they should be at the top two locations. The bottom holes are fro the brake line and the other is plugged.

Thanks:
That's what I thought, justed wanted to be sure. I took a look at VanSteels web site and the photo they have shows them both in the front/top.
