OK so I got an edelbrock 14" Elite Series cleaner did not keep the box or receipt and the eliment of the air filter is touching one of the spark plugs on the distributor and is driving me in sane. Any ideas. I have the 76 HEI did I get one to big? Does anyone have a 10" they would like to trade for. My unit is perfect.
I just put an Edelbrock Performer Carb on an old Torker 1 intake and what a mess. The drop base cleaner I tried hit the electric choke but a standard base would hit the hood. I only have about 2 1/2" clearance. Finally I got an offset base 14" with a 2" filter from Jegs and was able to cut out about 1/2" from the base to make it low enough.
Similar problem here.... the only air filter that fits my Edelbrock intake/carb combo with the stock hood is the 2" tall 14" dia filter from Mr gasket. It's available at DiscountAutoParts and is $25 .... they appearently do not sell replacement filters, only the whole thing incl. the crome parts... pretty expensive but at least it fits...

Thanks, the guy at DiscountAuto tried to order it for me without success... he said it was $15 for the filter... two weeks after he ordered three filters for his store he still didn't have any so I broke down and paid the $25 for the complete filter...
I'll try to order it from Mrgaskets website, now that I have the number.
You might also cross-reference that number (and take old filter in with you) at any stores that sells K&N filters. I am sure they make one for that 2" x 14" size... Maybe check their web site and order it from Summit or Jegs...
Summit wants $44 just for that filter. Are the K&N filters really worth that much? They're supposed to flow more air or something? I would maybe consider one if they are a lot better since a 2" filter does seem to be getting a little on the short side. What do you guys think?
I say go for the 14X2 from K&N...it probably outflows a regular 3 incher...
You can wash it and re-use it - that is regardless any power gains the biggest advantage, it is worth it's money, I use a K&N on my Z28 since 2001 (one and the same filter)...
