On mid 70's models with the rubber bumpers alot of them I seen are minus the low impact parts(cushions) so I guess this is pretty much common practice Any comments? I guess after a collision, repair or replacement of those parts are pretty much, is it worth the expense or do you really need it?

i have mine..... i would think you would want these or i would guess the 5 mph bumpers would not work very well, may be cheap insurance for the front end, how much do the cost?
I left mine in, but had to shave a little off the nose cushion to allow clearance for the glass bumper. The original poly bumpers did not have the clearance problem. My body shop guy said he usually leaves them out because of the time it takes to get everything to fit right. I would think even with them on, there will be a fair amount of body work and re-painting to be done after a 5 mph collision, especially with a glass bumper.
