Hello, I was thinking of coating my new garage floor with an epoxy floor coating. I was wondering if any of you guys have ever used this stuff and if so how great is it.
I considered using Rustolium but went with www.griggspaint.com as long as you are looking at the two-part epoxy system you should be fine. Just be sure to prep the concrete properly. Clean it good and etch it with muratic acid.
Many of these coatings are very slippery, this can be a problem on a rainy day when you drive the car into the garage and you hit the wall because of the wet tires.....
I was thinking about the U-Coat-It kits. Once you spend the bucks for two of the Rustoleum kits to cover a 2-car, the price on this doesn't seem to be so unreasonable. And they give you the stuff to give the floor some grip.
I just put that down for a lady a couple weeks ago, it lokks good but one coat for a top coat was not enough you could see lap marks from doing it in sections. other than that it looks good and easy to apply.
I painted mine with 2 part epoxy. Very durable. I am not sure about the slippery factor because I have not driven on it yet. I started my frame-off rebuild right after painting the floor. It shows some wear after working on it for a little over 2 years, but still has a lot of life left in it.
I just used on my newly poured garage floor a couple of months ago and I really like it. It doesn't seem to slippery to me and it's pretty durable. I've done two brake jobs and a shock replacement and it hasn't failed me yet. The best part is you can just spray a little de-greaser and hose it down, and it cleans right up.
