Default Door wiring harness ?

What is the purpose of the wiring harness that is located inside the door by the key lock? Was that only to activate the alarm? Would like to remove it since I'm, not using the alarm, but don't want to negatively affect something else.

Your profile says you have a C5, can't help with those.

I have a 78 too. The C5 requires no attention, while the 78 is a lot more demanding. Still looking for an answer on the door/lock wiring. Do I need to keep it for any technical reason?

Do you mean that plastic round thing that snaps on the back of the lock cylinder, it has a few cables running from it?? It's from the alarm, it's a rotary switch and it senses when you turn the key or it's to set off the alarm when someone forces the lock open, I'm not completely certain which of the 2 it is since my alarm never worked and I tossed the whole lot.

It is part of a larger harness and would be difficult to remove just that portion of it. I just left mine inside the door. It is out of the way and out of sight and causes no problems where it is. That way, if someone else ever owns it and wanted to return it to original, they could.

That's the piece (plastic round thing). Don't need that then since fenderwell alarm horn has long since been removed. Unplugged and put in a box for the next "owner"!
