427 Head Question
Here's an interesting question. I am looking at what appears to be a numbers matching 1969 427 (390 HP) car. It is an early September 1969 build. Here is the intersting issue. One head has the correct number for the car, yet the other side is clearly a 1970 454 head. The original owner passed away so it is an interesting dilema. Was the original replaced, or does anyone think due to the late build of the car that the 1970 head was used? Comments

I have an early July 69 427 that has the 3964290 heads on it with casting dates that precede the engine build. The factory must have been phasing this casting number in at the time to replace the 3931063 heads. Perhaps on the line they pulled from the bin and didn't care if the numbers were different as the heads were equivalent otherwise.
