I know I am fairly new to this forum but I think it needs split. 98% is OT. I realy enjoy the tech stuff and also like reading some B.S. at times but hate searching through the B.S. for the tech stuff.
problem is there is not enough true tech stuff to support a forum, so it would get stale and stagnant pretty quick and would die from lack of interest. (<=This is my theory) You need some OT - or as you say, "BS" stuff, like this thread for example, to stimulate some conversation and keep members around so they can participate in the tech discussion when it comes up. If you had a tech section I guarantee you some of the more expert members are going to very quickly get tired of answering the same old stupid questions.
NO offense taken by me anyway, I"m great for OT and POL sections.....frankly I"m a bit bored answering the same questions, but I been here since '99, so that's 5 years....
think we have covered the C3's from chassis rebuilding up to just about everything including strands of glass....not a stone or part unturned, or bolt for that matter either....
The C3 forum community is somewhat different from our cousins in the other forums....just like C3 owners tend to be somewhat different from other Corvette owners. That's part of the reason we have a single, united forum.
Don't know exactly why we're a different sort of folk...but 2½ years of C3 ownership have taught me this

GENE
no offense Gene,
but we have a lot more to do here in the tech area. We are very weak in the autocrossing and road racing department. When i go to that section i get nothing, as they are ALL C4 and C5 guys. We are weak in the painting area as well.
Really good threads are going to page 2 in a day because of all the noise.

we could all sell our cars to the junk yards, and drive
Hey,go ahead and split it! I don't really care. It wouldn't be split into C3total off topic and C3 technical. It would be C3 general and C3 technical. Go ahead, see how it works. I think the issue of splitting the C3 forum has always been more important to the proponents of splitting it than those in favor of keeping it one forum. I still think the best course is to keep it one forum, but if there are some (even if they are a minority) that prefer it split so they can easily avoid anything remotely non technical, I say let's give it to them. Try it out, it doesn't matter to me at all. My vote is changed. Time for a recount!

After over 20 years since the last C3 rolled off the line, there aren't many problems that someone else hasn't encountered. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but some people get bored answering the same question over and over. That's why people write tech articles and FAQ's. Personally, I like some of the chit chat here, but to each his own.
FWIW, I found corvetteforum.com via a link on a website that is mostly information with little discussion. corvettefaq . Otherwise, there is a still a wealth of knowledge to be found here.
