And the answer is No - the hood for a 73 big-block is not the same as for the 68 to 72 cars. The hood is the same for the 73 through 75 (I think) cars with the cowl induction. And there is a vent on the hood near the base of the windshield.
The 68 through 72 hoods don't have a vent, but they do have that nifty wiper door apparatus, and I don't recall any vents near the windshield.

That is correct. But there are vents.They are in front of the wiper door and go all the way across the length of the hood opening.

Because of the lack of wiper door, the hood and fenders are raised a little higher at the windshield to let the wipers come out to play, so you can't put a 73-75 hood on an earlier model. BTW, there is no difference between a big block and small block hood for these years. Joe
