Default Intake for L-88 hood

I"m installing an Ecklers reproduction L-88 hood with air chamber on my 1972 BB. I will be using Paragon's reproduction filter as well. I would like everything to fuction as intented so I need to know what are my intake manifold options? I'd prefer to use an oval port manifold but if necessary I could use a rectangular port as well. I do need to figure this out pretty soon so I can also select my heads.

The Edelbrock RPM Airgap will work and it is available with either Rect or Oval ports. It is also available in their new Permastar finish which is like chrome. The carb will sit 1/4" closer to the front of the car so you will have to mount the airbox a little closer to the front of the car than the stock dimensions for it to be centered on the air cleaner base. The Airgap is highly rated and is one of the best BBC intakes on the market.

Mine's going on right after the last vette get together (Xmas parade) in mid December.

When I had a functional L88 hood (air cleaner box) and the corresponding carburator air cleaner parts, I used a stock L88 manifold with the rectangular ports. lt all worked out and matched very well. All of this stuff was put together with piece parts since I didn't have an original L88! A lot of people say that for street use you should use the oval port manifolds, not the rectangular ports. As far I as I could tell, my rectangular port manifords worked just fine for street use. (With the rectangular port manifold, each intake port is about the size of a normal car's exhaust pipe!)
