Anybody know what torque setting I should use for my edelbrock aluminum haeds. I can't seem to find any actual numbers in any of my books. Any help would be appreciated.
just installed holley sys. max setup with alum. heads. thay say 65 ftlb...start at 35ftlb then 50 then 65....
dont know if edelbrock is same so you may want to call'm
good luck!
Believe with my trick flow's it is 35 then 55 then 70, done in steps. They seem to have removed the instructions from their website so I cannot 100% confirm it.
Bolt torq is listed on this spec page, looks to be either 65 or 70 depending on the head. Do it in stages although it does not state it, follow any of the head bolt tightening pattern diagrams for SBC, should be all the same.
Did Edelbrock not give you instructions? I have the PDF for the small block RPM's at home or you can get it from their website. I do believe that Grayhook is right off the top of my head. 35-50-65
I bought the heads used steve but I'll look on there website to double check. oops looks like Fevre found it for me, Thanks Fevre! The haynes did say to do it in steps and gave the sequence but no ft lb numbers. Thanks guys

There is also an alternate procedure to retorque after they have been fully torqued down. You go back to bolt 1 & loosen it to zero torque, then pull it back up to full torque in one smooth movement. Continue this on all of the bolts. This helps lessen the side pulling of the gasket, and it's also the procedure if it's not possible to re-torque after the initial runup. I did that procedure.
