I am new to the forum and I must say I am impressed with the amount of good information. I recently traded some racing parts for a 72 vette that was straight out of the middle 70's. Mural paint job, 4 inch flares all the way around and six tail lights. I have removed the flares and the extra two taillights but know I have a problem. What is the correct positioning of the "corvette" letters between the taillights on the rear? Can anyone tell me where I can find that info?

I'm not near my car so I can't measure right now.

Look underneath/behind and see if you can see where they filled the holes - that would be your most accurate bet - just find the original spots maybe...?

BTW ya just gotta share an image or two with us - I distinctly remember this era of customizing C2s and C3s so I've got to see what exactly you have. YOu know the funny thing is that the day may just come that finding such 'original' customizing jobs will be hard and someone may even start doing 'retro' versions - too funny - anyway I'm really curious about this one!

If nobody has already posted I'll measure later and post a followup. But otherwise look underneath/behind and see if you can't make out the locations...

good luck and shoot some pics for posterity before 'undoing' any of that 70s custom stuff!

That will work, shine a light at the paint and you should be able to see where the holes were.

I have already begun to "undo" what has been done to this C3. I did take some pictures before starting. I will have to scan and get them posted for your amusement. Thanks for your help.

Are the flares still useable ? I'd be interessted if these are the ACI flares.

Oh, I am not interessted in the two taillights ...

The flares were "hand-made". They were nothing that anyone would have been interested in.

... can't wait to see the photos.... 'hand made' ?? You mean 'bubba' flares ???

Don't get me wrong, there are members on this forum that have made their own flares and these look really good...

Just looked at my assy book. No information regarding dimensions. Looks like finding the backside of the holes in the panel is going to be your best bet.
