Engine vibration, How do I check the harmonic balancer
It seems to be at the engine and occurs at 3200 rpm and above. I have had the drive shaft balanced and replaced the universal joints. I can feel it when reving the engine in lower gears. If I get on the highway after the car has been idling like in the line at the bank or in slow traffic and the vibration is gone. I think it may be the harmonic balancer. How does that work and how can I check it?

Next, it's possible that a weight has come off the torque convertor if it's an automagic trans. If it's a standard, which it sounds like from your message, then I doubt a 'weight has flown off'' the flywheel but it could be a steady misfire such as a plug wire being bad...and missing only under a load.
Now about the balancer. You need to verify TDC from the cylinder, and then look at the indicator on the balancer. If it is not pointing to TDC then the balancer is bad.
