Default Question for 82 Vette owners!

I'm converting my 80 Vette to fuel injection and I have purchased a 82 fuel sender. The retun pipe coming out of the sender is a 5/16 inch diameter. The return line coming out of the original sender was 1/4 inch diameter. Did the 82 Corvettes have a 5/16 inch return fuel line?
I ordered and installed all new stainless lines for an 82 Vette and the return line with the kit was 1/4 inch diameter. My 1980 Vette originally had 1/4 inch line. Could someone measure the return line at the engine on their 1982 Corvette.......thanks.

Pretty sure they are all that way.

I might add I have Tuned Port injection on mine using that 1/4 line and have had no issues.

If the return line in the sender for 82 is 5/16 inch and the return line is 1/4 inch...then how did GM deal with the transition from one size to the next?

I'm going to have to ask an expert. I'll see him tomorrow and try to post an answer Monday morning.

Said he had never noticed a difference. I looked at the catalogs and they all list the same return line for 78-82. My guess is that they used a 1/4" line, 1/4" fuel line and just shoved it onto the 5/16" sending unit barb. Are you sure it is 5/16" at the sender? Not sure I can tell 1/16" difference on a fuel line with my eye.

Both the old 1980 sender and the 1982 sender are sitting on my workbench. They have been measured. One has a 1/4 inch return pipe, the other (82) has a 5/16 inch return pipe.
Could someone please measure their 1982 fuel line at the engine!

I still have my old fuel lines somwhere, I could measure them if I could find them. The return line is smaller than the feed on the 82. I however don't see the problem, are you worried the return line will be too small?

Yes...many people tell me to go with a minimum 5/16 fuel return line with a 3/8 being the best. The engine is now a 383 producing appropx. 350HP.
