Default Factory Side exhaust with headers [PICS]

I know there are some guys on here that want to run side exit headers under factory exhaust covers. I thought i would share some pics of my setup.
Hedman Side Exhaust headers...wrappings suck.

This is the whole setup...I cut off the front pipe of the Allens mufflers and welded my own bent setup...Fit is great, but they hang down from below the covers..but it doesn't look bad.

I will be gutting the mufflers and having the whole system JetHot coated.

Nice looking work. Are you planning on coating the headers too? If so I would think you could do away with the heat wrapping. Either way, make sure to post follow up pics.

Eddie...the wrapping is definitely going away..i only did it because i tried to coat the headers myself with POR-20 and it all flaked off. So i sprayed it with VHT and wrapped them to get me through the summer. Jet-hot on the headers and sidepipes..only way to go.

I got the headers from summit, and the sidepipes came from Allens Exhaust. The headers were about $120 not coated, and the mufflers, if i remember..were almost $800 from allens.
I've actually thought about just welding in a Stainlessworks chambered muffler in the place of the muffler now, but the way the tips and everything are offset, it looks alittle tricky..might figure something out if i don't like the sound of these gutted mufflers.

I have a set of Allen's sidepipes on my Vette, and believe me, you don't need to gut them. They are deafening as they are!!!!

About how much are those headers and where did you get them? I am having a hard time finding them on the typical performance parts web sites.

I used to see them in summit online ... weren't there last time.

Price is right -- ~120 sounds correct.

Okay, thanks. I'll have to pick a pair of those up as I'm going to custom make my own sidepipes out of 3" stainless. How is the fitment? I'm especially curious of the header outlet position.

when we do ours (will be a whilllleee since we are usin the stock sidepipes until we have the money) we are most likely gonna get those hedmans and some 3 inch mandrel bent pieces and weld an elbow to a straight 3 inch stainless pipe and use the spiral turbo baffles which are just inserts you put inside the pipe...

Yep that's basically my plan except I was going to use 2-3 in each tube of the the 11" long auger style mufflers Speedway sells for like $15. Seems like a much cheaper and easier alternative.
