Default What is this part for?????

I found I had a short, this is kicking my butt, I still cannot
find it. I put new stainless shoes, and cleaned up my rotors,
getting it ready for the road again. Seems like if I fix or put a
new part, somthing always gives up again. So now I have A
damn short. If i move the ignition switch, the little part in the
picture will make some noise, if I move the wiper switch it makes
noise. I pulled fuses out one at a time, 2 of them turn my batt,
light, and choke light off, that stay on while the key is in the off
position Its a 81 model

Anyway, what is this for, and the 2 fuses that turn the light
off were the A/C and one called C/H, can someone tell me
if they have a maual, C/H is at the very top of the fuse panel.
Now I have to replace my carpet,I was so pissed I tore it apart.
thanks all

If it makes noise when you turn on the wipers, it could possibly be the wiper delay module. Either that or possibly the alarm module (judging from the location).

That's 1/2 the wiper/washer controller. There is supposed to be a black plastic case around it but GM decided to get super cheap there and the plastic case is fixed with TAPE! Yes, the Gernaral turned bubba there.

What happens is the plastic falls off and the print shorts out on the jack or any other metal part.

The bad part..those things are discontinued if I'm not mistaking.
The late C3 ones are the same as the earlier ones w/ adjsutable interval/delay wipers but the wire codes are different and so is the connector. I had a fried one also and took an older unuit, cut off the connector and put on the connector from the fried unit. The wires can easily be traced to the printed board and that way it's easy to figure out which color has to go where on the new connector.

plug it in and check if the wipers work on all settings and if the interval dial **** works, then test the pump (and the wipers should wipe when you puh the ****). If any of these do not work the unit is suspect.

Good tape? It's fiberglass reinforced tape but how good is the tape's film strength if the adhesive lets go after time? They should have used a zip tie, still cheap but it won't fall apart on itself.

Hey now, in the roundy round racing game duct tape is called 90 mile an hour tape because you can refasten a fiberglass body panel that took a hit and it will stick to 90 MPH with duct tape.....He He

The C/H fuse in an 80 Chevy Fuse box stands for "Choke / Heater"

So this means most likely, the short could be in the
A/C or C/H ??? I can put a test light on the post
of the battery and the terminal end (Disconnected)
and the test light lights up as bright as day
All my grounds were checked and ok from the
battery to frame,frame to motor.
