You guys are great! Lots of good info. The car does have the 350/270hp ZQ3 engine. I wish it had a different engine but this car will work for me because it is a beauty! The color is ontario orange with black interior and a black soft top that has never been used. I will make an offer on it based on my research and the info that I have received from this forum. I do feel that 25k is too much and should be around 18k-20k. I will try to get as much info on the car as I can such as trim codes, engine codes, etc. I don't have any pics yet. I will have a mechanic who is familiar with the C3's due a good check. HARDTOP? If I wanted to get a hardtop where can I find one? Is it worth it? Any more info that you guys can think about, keep it coming! So $18k to $20k seems right?

Unless you live in a VERY cold area that doesn't put salt on the roads (sort of an oxymoron) then there really is no need. It just takes up space in the summer. The guy before me had my car for 15 years and never even put the soft top up. the hardtop was in a cover the whole time. But I do live in Florida
The ONLY real advantages I see in a hardtop is the security of the car when travelling long distance (and parking it at a hotel overnight) and also reduced noise on the highway when travelling long distance. I did 400 miles on saturday with the ragtop up and it was OK, the hardtop would have been better.
The hardtops are also expensive to restore. Unless you get one with good seals and a good headliner here are the costs of pieces:
Seals $300
Headliner $450
Add that to the money you outlay for a Hardtop and you can spend $1500 to get a functional one.
I have a hardtop and it sits in my basement all year...never used. If you did want to get one check ebay. Be careful on shipping as they are large, heavy and expensive to ship. I would check that softtop. If it truly has never been used it might be in bad shape.
I would get the hardtop if one comes with the car. I have one and really don't use it all that much but I could always sell it. They have been going up in value. The best time to get one is when you buy the car so you can put right on & bring it home.
Only get it if it has all the trim. That stuff is expensive and rare.
