Default PSA - Don't Do This!

If you have a loose inside rear view mirror, i.e., one that won't stay in the correct position, don't do what I did this past weekend. I tightened the screw which connects the roof bracket to the mirror, but it didn't seem to help so I decided to push together the prongs on the end of the bracket. One light squeeze with some pliers and both prongs broke off. End of job. Turns out the other end of the bracket was the problem . . . the end with the ball that attaches at the top of the windshield. Just needed to tighten the piece that holds the ball/bracket in place. As you know, you can buy every piece on your Vette so the bracket is on back order. I guess they don't get too many requests for that particular piece. Wonder why? You live and learn with these cars.

i had to take that ball (where the screw goes thru to tighted the mirror) to hardware store and insert a plastic sleeve over the screw ,,so it would stay tight- i broke the old one by overtightining it ,,cuz the mirror was sloppy and would not stay- even the brand new one wouldnt stay- once i added the plastic sleeve it locked in fine..
