Default '78 Corvette Lifting Points...

Where are the lifting points on a '78 Coupe and how do I recognize them ?

I don't have any stress cracks and I don't want to mess something up.

Thanx
Kenny

Are you refering to placing the Vette in jack stands?

Or lifting the body off the frame?

For placing the Vette on jackstands, on my 78 I placed a floor jack right about where the trans crossmember meets the frame-rails under the doors. This would lift the whole side of the Vette evenly. I would then put a jackstand under the frame-rail forward of the door, and another jackstand just in front of the rear wheel under the frame rail. Then repeat on the other side.

If I needed just the front-end up like for changing oil, I would place the floorjack under the forward crossmember, lift and place jackstands just under the lower A-Arm where the bottom of the frontshocks bolt to.

If lifting the body off the frame, I used a nylon sling, and clipped under the birdcage rails under the doors. My birdcage was in very good shape with no rust at all, so I trusted the integrity of the metal where I lifted. If I questioned the integrity of the birdcage, I would have run the sling totally under the body before lifting.

I hope this helps!
