Default Stainless Hooker Sidepipes

All,
I know a while back folks were talking about the new stainless steel hooker headers and sidepipes.

For those who have bought them already, any troubles with discoloring, etc? How are they holding up? How much were they?

I'm considering either those or the jet hot coated ones.

Thanks

I like to think of it as a lovely golden color.

hey, my '74 has hooker headers/pips and there's quite a bit of corrosion on the header part, quite visible where the four (eight) individual pipes come out from under the car and attach to the tube. so that's what might happen. anybody have any ideas about dealing with 30 years of corrosion? and does anybody know how much those are worth? i didn't know when i bought it. thanks!

No problems, very happy so far. Yeah the headers turn purple/bronze color close to the engine, but not visible from outside and they should last forever.
cheers.

Thanks, anyone else?

Also, I have a set of old rusty ones as well. Just as described above. Anyone know if they are worth anything.

Hey Ozzie71. You're setup is exactly the look I'm going for. Mind sharing part numbers for headers, sidepipes, etc.?

I have a SS exhaust on my Excursion and I can say that it turned brown, brown ,brown. Unless the Hookers are made from a different SS I'd expect them to do the same.

2224-3HKR for the headers
50735-3HKR for the side tubes
21021-HKR for the glasspack

Remember that the P/Ns above for the headers and sidetubes are for the STAINLESS STEEL version of the old trusty steel sidepipes and headers that we all knew and loved but were forced to coat them with paint or jet-hot ceramic to keep them from rusty (sometimes that didnt even work). I order the above parts from summit about a month ago, I have recieved the mufflers and the side-tubes, should recieve the headers within the next couple weeks. Have fun trying to get them quickly because these are somewhat new and it sounds like Hooker is a little backed up right now.

Looks good.
Did they come with that heat shield or did you get that somewhere else?
Is it stainless as well or chrome?

I went with the Spiral Turbo Baffles from STS (JCL)due to many forum posts saying the Hooker glass packs are too heavy and restrictive. Luv the sound
I also purchased the 27in polished stainless heatshields from Jim at STS, but they were the last set and I don't believe he is making any more. Jim actually sold me the near new set off his car, because I had to have shields for the boss(wife) to agree to sidepipes, great guy!!
They work very well and I think they look great. All the mounting hardware is stainless also. If the demand is there he may make some more, give him a call.
Cheers
Mick
