Anyone using a TIG? I'm planning on getting one and I'm looking at a Miller Syncrowave 180. It says it'll do stick welding also, is this true? I currently have a MIG and I'm getting the TIG so I can do Aluminium too.

I have a Hobart 200, a synchrowave is nice. How about hot start (no scratching)??? It can be used for stick, yes.

I just looked, nice machine, I'd get a foot controller with it though

I do believe most TIG welders can do stick, just need the attachment. The principle is the same, running current through an electrode to melt metal. For TIG you'll definitely want the foot pedal.

I had a Miller Sychrowave 250 and traded it for a Dynasty (300 amp inverter TIG.) The "lift arc" feature is AWESOME! and only Miller has it, no more "sratch strating" for me. I would consider a Snchrowave 250 over the 180 if you want to do any roll cage or suspension work also better for aluminum repairs as 180 amps is not much power but, really neat little "package" on the 180.
