Who's got the chrome repro valve cover's that sell for $39-$49 ? Are there any issues with these.?..leaks, too tall etc... ... I know they don't have dripper's. I want to use them while I'm having my originals re-chromed.
Do a search on ebay and you will get a bunch. I just won a set of tall models for $14. Haven't got them yet, so I don't know what the quality is. At that price, I hope I didn't waste my money. We'll see.
I've got them. No fitment issues. I have manual brakes, power steering, and non-factory wire looms. My only complaint is that they have the mounting tabs for the factory style looms. Since I don't need them, they are just eye-sores to me.
What's the shop charging for chroming the originals?
The place I work at does business with a plater so I get lot price. I want them flash chromed so they look like the originals..$115. They usually don't do automotive stuff so when they get a chance to do them they will. It just may take awhile. That's why I need the repro's.
Larry, I had a set of the cheap ebay ones on for about a year, and they looked very good and no leaks. I'd recommend them, and you just can't do better on the price.
Well... The first Sunday of every month there is a HUGE auto flea market at Sumpter co. fairgrounds. It Is HUGE like real spread out and lots of individuals and vendors selling. I just got back with a set of the repro valve covers. They look great. $35. Plus the Lady threw in the grommets and a set of gaskets. However.... They don't fit.. The cover itself is too wide so that puts the bolt holes very close to the vertical wall of the valve cover. The re-enforcements will not go on as there is not enough room. I had to use just the bolts and even then they were a real PIA to get the bolts started because they were off almost 1/2 a hole. Drift punches and a lot of cussing got the driver's side on. I hope it doesn't leak. I am going to wait on the other side...I'M tired. The other valve cover looks like it will have the same problem with the holes. Another Quality reproduction fro Taiwan. (NOT)
Drippers are little pieces of flat metal welded to the inside of the valve cover, arranged so that the oil splash on the underside of the cover flows down them and drips onto each valve.
