I have read many threads about replacing U-joints. Spicer is the most recommended. I spoke to a local drive shaft shop today who told me Spicer was good when they were made in the USA. They're now made in India. He reccomended Brute Force. Any comments would be appreciated.
I recently started a thread like this too. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=957294
Many guys recommend the Spicers while others go with the Brute Force. All seem to be satisfied. I found a post by Van Steel stating they had problems lately on the Spicers with the seal breaking. That plus cost led me to the Brute Force. Most people said to avoid the greasable ones since that weakens the joint.
I think that the grease fittings don't work. I may be wrong and somebody may be able to educate me here....
There are four locations that need grease. If I inject the grease in the center and one of the four bearing caps has less restance than the other three, (may this be due to dirt or bearing clearance or whatsoever), the grease would only reach this one bearing and would squeeze out in this location.
Has somebody actually greased these and has seen the grease squeezing out of all four caps ??
As I said, I may be completely wrong with my theory...
