Default replacement weatherstrip question...

Finally got around to replacing the driver and passenger door pillar weather strips on my '82. when I went to remove the old strips, I found that they had a thin piece of metal embedded in the old strip and screwed into the pillar at the top near the intersection with the T-top.
The replacement strips were just a strip of rubber-no metal angle piece embedded.

No big deal I guess, but the new strips also seem longer than necessary and need to be trimmed at the top by about 3/4". Is this correct or are the replacement strips *generally* already at the correct length? Bought these at Wilcox, but don't know his source.

Thanks for any insight.

boody,

I'm working on a set from Wilcox myself, although I haven't gotten to the window pillar pieces yet. So far the t-tops are a perfect fit. If I were you, I would check out the articles at www.corvettefaq.com - if you haven't been there, it's invaluable. Check under "exterior" - there's a Corvette Fever article that has some good info.
