Default Storage space

Sorry if this is already on another thread, but I searched and couldn't find it.
How much storage space is there in a C3? is there a spare that takes up some room? can you fit a suitcase or golf bag in the back? thanks

Mmm it really depends on what year your talking about, the 78+ seems to have loads more room in the rear, I can quite easily fit in 2 golf bags and have room on top for a little more, the rear space area is quite ample, and the spare tyre is stored under the car at the rear I believe the 78+ also has a storage cover to hide your cargo, at least mine does.

The older Vettes 68-77 seem to have much less space, and I believe thats why they have a luggage rack on their *** although I cant really comment on if a golf bag will fit in the rear as I dont own one, actually Ive never seen a 68-77 in real life only pics Here in Australia Vettes are as rare as rocking horse S#it

Although no model has an open-able boot which is quite an adjustment for me

I've got a '69 and the storage area is pretty small. Basically, there is a cubby hole behind the seats that bumps into the gas tank. And as mentioned, the spare is stored beneath the tank, outside the vehicle.
The cubby hole is maybe 2 1/2 - 3 feet deep but not very wide. If you've got short clubs a bag might fit back there but I bet it's tight. And then there's 3 little storage compartments in the deck in the cubby hole. The driver side stores the battery, the middle one is tiny cause the drive-shaft tunnel is below it and then the passenger side is open. I'd say you could probably fit a bowling ball in there with a bit extra space above it to spare.
I'm sure you loose even more space if you've got a convertible.

In my 80 there is room for a bunch of trophies, folding chairs and an icechest.

My newfoundland fits in the back of my '77. Depends on how big your suitcase is But if you travel light, there should be enough room. And if you don't, you could always get a luggage rack

My '82 has a lot of room back there. I've gone on trips with the wife (and we know how much s*it they bring) and had plenty of room for ice chest and beach chairs. If your alone you can fold the pass. seat down and use that area also.

Thanks for the replies. I was looking at a 69-72 convertible, so I guess that means I would have the least room of all. Maybe if I was a midget...

I go on trips all the time in my C3, though it is a 78 so you get a little more room because of the bubble back. I have no trouble fitting a suitcase. Multiple small bags work better than one big as you have to lean in to load and unload. I carry golf clubs no problem, but you have to fold down the front passenger seat flat and run the clubs front to back.

I remember someone mentioning that they built a storage area in the spare tire carrier. Seems like a cool idea to me.

You know, there is a reason GM put those ugly luggage racks on the back of so many pre '78 C3s. They are functional.

My understanding of the luggage rack was more for a place to put your t-tops so you could still use the inside storage.

The later C3s, like '80 and up had a GM option for a different type of rack specifically for T-tops, but I've only seen pics of Vettes with it installed, never one first hand. Almost bid on a set on eBay once because they seem to fetch a good price. Still, I'd never install or that option. It looks odd.
