200,700, and BS
If I was going automatic and I am not I would look seriously at the C4, yes the ford overdrive transmission. Art Carr can build it alot strong then the 400 and is rated at over 1000hp fully built.
As for fitting a 700 in our cars I found it simple, almost a bolt in.
I just wish 5-6 speed sticks were available for the 1500 bux I spent on this POS 700, allthough since I redid the 3/4 clutch pack, it's running ok for now, I just a bit miffed that a better bolt in tranny was around, but no one discovered it, or recommended it....I came on this site in '99, and did the swap out in '97, so certainly not this site's fault....duh....
my tranny tunel needed widening on the pass side, so it was cut and epoxied wider at bottom to clearance the tranny case....the Muncie mount need rewelding to fit the 700, apparently not for a 200,
much less the 700 has that silly first hear....hell, any vette or decent car can easily burn rubber with any automatic, 1/2 an engine, and a 273 posi rear.....so who needs a 3x first gear?? 2.5x is fine enough...
at any rate, some day, if I find a decent priced 200 I"m going that route...and ditch that obese POS....
