I have an opportunity to acquire a 73 Coupe. Nothing special about the car. Solid frame and suspension, needs a little interior work, front nose needs replaced and the motor is shot. (rod through the pan)
350 4spd. Has been setting outside for about a year.
Owner is open to offers but I don't want to insult him. It's not like I don't have enough to do...having a C2 and C4, just thought filling the gap with a C3 would be nice. I'm looking for a figure that would be fair to offer. Also is there anything special that I should be looking for?
check the frame and the bird cage for rust .considering the rest of the car if the frame is shot i would pass. easy 5 grand for paint another 3 to 5 grand motor and easy 1000 for interior .it adds up quick0000min
Sorry i read post hastily
if the rest of the car is solid i would offer 4000 tops 73 is nice i have one but realisticly they do not bring the money that 68 to 72 do . verts bring more but nice coupes with all the documents top out around 15k
It's been sitting in the rain?....I got the number on my wall for a running black 4sp 73 with T-Tops, he said he'd let it go for 5,500. Not a bad car...needs a seat. Unfortunatly I'm finantially challenged at the moment. Offer him 2,500 for it and see where he goes.
I would figure $3000-$4000 for the engine, $500 t0 $1500 for minor interior work, body work and paint $5000. That adds up to $8500 to $10,500. How bad do you want a 73? If you got to pay someone to do the all the work, you might as well add to the total cost of repair. These price's are not inflated as parts for vettes do not come cheap. Does the owner have any idea as to how much it will cost to make it into a nice driveable car? I think $2000 to $3000 is more than fair. The owner. like all vette owners, thinks he has a diamond in the rough. If this is the case, and I don't know if it is, let him throw the money into it and when it's done offer him $12,000 for it.
I bought in August a 1973 L82,TH400, 3:55 ratio coupe in Ontario Orange, PS, PB, PW, T/T, A/c and black custom interior. Car has 15,763 original miles, included all factory documents....for $16,500.

I recently bought my 73 for 5000 and the motor was supossed to be shot but when i got home i took it apart it had roller rockers and a steel crank so know im going to rebuild it. It ran when i went to pick it up and when i took the heads of the end of the valve broke of and got embadded in the piston. Also it had offset trailing arms a composite spring and every upgrade on the rear end. I am very happy with my pruchase because it saved me like 1500 dollars.
