Differential Code Decoder needed
Help needed in decoding two differential codes:

Please tell me what you can about these two early 70s diffs.

None of these make sense as "ratio" codes. It appears these may be "casting date" codes.
#1 looks like possibly March 28, 1969

Good date code if its May 19th (my birthday) and 1973 (my car's birthyear)

Could that be CAN, 1970 3.55:1 Positraction?
That second diff i have no idea on, maybee you need to scrape some more goo off there to get clearer letters. THere should be at least 2 letters in a early diff code.
Try cleaning em up see if you can get a better look at the codes. PM or email me, my book is within reach of my computer and i'd be glad to help.

Well, I wire brushed and checked again and I had the correct numbers in the first post.
I think the first is a 3:55 as checked by the wheel rotation vs drive shaft rotation test. However, ther is so little difference in the rotation test between a 3:55 and a 3:36 that I'm not positive.
The second is a 3:08 as verified by my mech who opened it up.
