Tonight all I had left to do was pull the dipstick tube, which I think I bent. I hooked the leveller up and raised the motor just a tad. The bell housing separated just enough for me to get a pry bar in. I raised it just another inch or two and it came apart really easily. My 2004r has not been in very long. That's probably why it came apart so easily.
Here's some pics of the lame duck motor.
yes, that IS Charzard hanging from the string for parking assistance for my wife.
You can see the pry bar/vise grip setup I used to keep the converter in.
350, 383, and Charzard.
What are you doing with the old engine? how was it running? just curious.
I'll probably just keep it. It's a numbers matching block. It ran fine, just anemic. 15.0 was the best ET with it. For a little more than the money than I would have spent on a better intake, carb, and heads, I bought Grandsportc3's 383, which I know will still run better than my L48 upgraded.
I might get another rolling chassis someday. If I do, I'll warm over the L48 and put it back in the 79. The 383 will go in the rolling chassis once it's restored.
