Default 69-77 LT-1 Valve Covers

Hello everyone,

My books show GM 3965541 and GM 3965542 for correct 69-77 LT-1 Valve covers.
I came across a pair with the GM numbers 14025554 and 1402555_.
Any idea what these are correct for?
They have internal drippers and metal twist off cap.
Thx
Jim

I think '70 & older use the twist off cap.

My 72 has a rubber push in plug with the word oil on it. I know this is correct.

These valve covers are for '78-'80 SHP . The other last number should be a 3. G.

There are 4 designs of these covers. 69 only are not polished and do not have drippers. The 70 and up polished ones have drippers that are still available in NOS form from GM. Then there were black ones with drippers and brushed fins in the late 70's and then finaly the black with drippers and brushed fins but were actualy cast from magnesium.

I could probably get casting numbers if someone realy needed them. I have all but the magnesium ones here at the house.

Sorry but, no OEM aluminum covers were EVER polished! The covers you found are not "correct" as the gasket area is not fully "captured" like the OEM 69-77 aluminum VC's were. I will repaet tis one more time so you NCRS types get it right: NO FACTORY ALUMINUM VALVE COVERS WERE EVER POLISHED!!! on any Vette or Z/28 Camaro!
