Default Jack & Stand Points

I need to put a chrome flywheel cover on my 77. This is my first time under a Vette. Where is the best place to jack it with my floor jack?

And where is the best location for the jack stands?

Also the cover came with no screws, can I use a universal bolt/nut to mount it? There was no old cover so I don't have the old screws. What I mean is, do they have to be screwed right in, or is a hole all the way through where I can put a nut on the back of the screw? THANKS!!

I think you have to use bolts for the inspection cover. Jack stand locations are at the front and back of the doors on the frame. The jacking location is in the same spots. Alot of people just use the center of the crossmember underneath the engine to lift the car though. You can lift both sides by jacking there.

I found this,

Chrome plated steel bolts for GM flywheel dustcovers. 1/4" X 20 hex head bolts.

Good Luck

Just make sure that you open the doors and hood before you raise it, lest damage occure to the body.

Yeah - but only if the frame is trash.

I thought the those were the 1/4" pointy, coarse, self-tapping type screws.
I could be wrong.

NHvette is correct. They are coarse thread, self-tapping machine screws.
