Default Headers and Factory Side Exhuast- ADVISE

The 454BBC will be in the first week of January and I need some advise on headers. I plan to put the factory side exhuast back on my 69 vert and want to know what the best headers to use. Is modifications needed with the block huggers or shortie headers. Any pic's of this kind of set up would be good reference.

Thanks Brandon for the reply.

So what I'm reading from the info you gathered is;
1. Headmann sucks
2. Stainless Works and Stahl have side exhaust headers for factory side pipe use.
3. I should not use block hugger or shortie style headers due to gases not escaping.

I was hoping that the someone has used the shorties and welded an extension to the flange. This would have saved me a little money since new factory BB manifolds are expensive. Plus I like the look of headers.

my $.02
If you are not drag racing you probably don't NEED full length headers since you are not running the car at WOT anyway.

Therefore you really just want decent flow and even flow between clyinders to make tuning easier.

So, Block huggers or shorties would be fine if you don't want to use cast iron manifolds.

BUT you WILL give up some horsepower....

OK, but if I go with standard headers then what about the "S" shape bend - will it interfere with flow or bottom clearance.
