Default Vertical Hinge Doors C3......

I'm not sure that I like these but the fabricator gets kudoos for the engineering. Saw these tonight when I was looking for parts for the 68. I don't see that they raise high enough and forward enough to let you out comfortably.
What do you guys think?

i was looking into a kit for the past 6 months. i've contacted many companies and they said i would have to modify other kits and all that jazz.... this one compay wanted 2500 and my car for 4 weeks to make me a set that would work on the 77..... are u crazy 2500..... that's actually not a bad price either considering that most kits go between 900-1400 for other cars....... if i had the cash i would get a set but i need to finish up the front suspension first....good find in my opinion..... the only thing i would look out for is the shock and if is actually powerfull enough to hold the door up for awhile......vette doors can get heavy...

Can you imagine one of those doors falling across your legs as you try to get out?

He should have painted it white and put some feathers on it so it would look like a chicken trying to fly away .

honestly, if you think about it, the vdc doors wouldn't be a bad idea.... how many times have you opened your door and either came toooo close to the car next to you or actually dinged it..... also, my father had a 74 with side pipes and it was a pain to get in and out of the car while watching your legs......everyone that drove in it got burned except my dad and i......... if you wanted to you could always put in a higher pressure shock..... just my 3.5 cents....

Does it work without the T-tops off and window down? Am I missing something here?

Sometimes change is a bad thing...

I've seen too many 'ricers' with that same mod. I think it actually makes it harder to get in/out. because the door can't open high enough. It would need to rotate up & over part of the front fender like on a real Lambo.

Just remember the guy who wrote this,

"Me and my son own "Dream Car Customs". We Do complete restorations and custom work. A customer wanted to install vertical doors on his 1979 Corvette but we could not find any kits that we dident have to cut and weld to the doors . He dident want to do any cutting or welding on his corvette. He wanted to have a bolt on kit so at any time he could change back to his old hinges. I custom made a bolt on kit and he loves it! I have done 4 more C3 Corvettes in the last 3 months just from people seeing his. I am listing this on E Bay for C3 owners who would like to add vertical doors to there corvette. This auction is for a new bolt on Custom Vertical Door kit. This kit bolts in the same holes as the oreginal hinges on the frame and boltes right to the door .You can ajust the vertical angle of the doors up to 90 degrees "straight up". You can also adjust the hang of the doors. This kit will fit all 1968-1982 C3 Corvetes. This kit includes everything. The only thing it doesent have is wire extension. you will have to splice in your on wire."

is the guy who engineered this kit. Hopefully he uses the money he gets from the auction to go get his GED.

well, since alot of people don't like the vdc kits,.....i was also thinking about suicide doors...... that would actually be a better setup but the problem i found was that since the area where you would attach the new hinges, it's not straight, has two angles in it...so the possiblity of suicide doors really isn't there..... you could easy mount the hinges to the birdcage but you could only use one hinge....not good....well, gots to go...
