77 steering column swap
My 77 column with tele/tilt needs replacing. It seems there are a bunch of used tilt only wheels on the market and they are much cheaper. Can I do a straight swap with a tilt only column as I really dont need the tele option anyway. Isnt that why the seat moves back to front, LOL? Are the tilt only as prone to malfunction?

Ric (CF name PINKY) repairs them. I think it wil be more cost effective to get it repaired. He also makes columns. He is rebuilding mine for me now. These columns can easily cost $$$ to replace, consider repair.

I do not know of any tilt (only) steering columns for C3 Corvettes that performs all the functions of the original steering column. The only GM designed steering columns are the standard (non-adjustable) and the T&T. I really don't recommend replacing the energy absorbing, safety steering column with a rigid design column that does not collapse in a severe frontal collision. GM and Saginaw Steering Gear Division spent millions of dollars designing and optimizing the entire vehicle along with the steering column to assist in saving lives on the highway.
