Default What RPM to shift at?

I have a '72 L48 with some minor mods done...long tubes, Edelbrock Torker intake...Muncie M-22 with I believe 3.23's in the rear (yes I know they didn't come with the car, the M-22 was installed when the engine was rebuilt)...anyway, to the point of this post, what RPM should I shift at to be getting the most of every gear without the worry of over-revving the engine?

That motor won't rev over 5K comfortably. But do yourself a favor and find a dyno to run it on. That way you'll know when to shift!

If the dyno shows that power is falling off at 4800 then you sure don't wanna shift higher than that! Make sense?

If it's making power to 5500 then that will be your shift point.

Here's the correct way:

Dyno test the engine and shift approx. 200 - 300 RPM past peak HP!!

Not sure where the 5500 or less came from. In a L-48 that may be good. In a performance engine with hyd cam the shift point could be over 7000 rpm's as well.
